This striking and very fine painting is water-colour and ink, and shows a lady in medieval dress, wearing a crown - perhaps a theatrical figure such as Lady Macbeth (q.v. John Singer Sargeant's famous painting of Ellen Terry), or Queen Guinevere.
The size, composition and depth of colour suggests this may be an illustration for a book.
The painting is signed in ink lower right "June Railton, Jan 18 1910" (as far as we can tell). We have not identified the artist.
