Size: each bracket approx 37.5 cm (15 inches) long, shelf 29 x 22 cm (11.5 x 9 inches)
These very imposing wall brackets are carved as two eagles, one with a hare as prey and the other with a salmon. The figures are carved in oak with the back part of the shelf above also in oak, while the front part of the shelf is mahogany.
The brackets are a superb example of English hunting themed decorative art and presumably would originally have decorated a hunting lodge.
Generally the brackets are in very good condition with an excellent patina, but the tail of the salmon has some old losses. The front leg of the hare is (and presumably always was) a separate glued-on piece.
